We store email, password hash, nickname, country, and major city. Passwords are never stored in plain text.
Other members' nicknames on public pages are masked (first/last characters only). After login you see your own nickname in full. Ancestry is not shown publicly; email never appears there.
Login uses an HttpOnly cookie for about 30 days. Language preference is stored in a cookie too.
California and certain other U.S. states allow opt-out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Eligible visitors may see a Google notice with Opt out, or use Google Ads Settings to manage personalized ads.
