Chinatown
City of Toronto Archives: Chinatown first stood on Elizabeth Street north of Queen Street. Council records from 1948 to 1958 show the city buying that land for a new City Hall. A later Chinatown grew around Spadina Avenue and Dundas Street. The city’s planning study describes the present area as Spadina Avenue from College Street to Queen Street West, and Dundas Street West from Beverley Street to Augusta Avenue.
